Russian propaganda outlets are actively disseminating AI-generated content to discredit the voluntary Contract 18-24 recruitment initiative for young Ukrainians. These materials, which include fabricated banners and deceptive videos, aim to create misleading impressions regarding the conditions of service within the Defense Forces.

What happened

The disinformation campaign involves two primary vectors of AI-generated content. First, propagandists circulated an image of a banner purportedly placed near a university admissions office on behalf of the Third Assault Brigade, featuring the slogan, "Time to choose who you are: a boy or a man." Hive Moderation analysis indicated a 99.9% probability that this image was created or altered using generative AI. The campaign's framing is inconsistent with the brigade's official branding and communication style, which typically uses slogans like "We’re Here to Live."

Second, a video circulating on TikTok and YouTube features a man standing beside a vehicle, claiming to transport fallen service members aged 18 to 20 who were allegedly deceived by the government. Hive analysis found an 82% probability that the audio track was AI-generated or modified. Furthermore, the video exhibits clear technical discrepancies, as the man's speech does not align with his facial movements.

These tactics attempt to undermine the Contract 18-24 program, a voluntary initiative for individuals aged 18 to 24. While the program offers a one-time payment of UAH 1 million and various social benefits, the propaganda materials intentionally misrepresent these terms to sow discord.
