On June 28, 2026, a report emerged on Reddit regarding a group of men who utilized AI technology to target women at their local gym. The incident surfaced when a user discovered that her boyfriend and his gym acquaintances were maintaining a private WhatsApp group to share deepfake imagery and disparaging commentary about women they encountered.
What happened
The individuals involved in the gym social circle created AI-generated images of women who frequented the same facility. These images were digitally manipulated to depict the women in scenarios with the men, including fabricated depictions of marriage, which were then used for trolling purposes within the group chat. Beyond the creation of these synthetic images, the participants used the platform to exchange sexually explicit content and engage in derogatory discussions about the targets. The activity was reported by an observer who described the behavior as deeply concerning and predatory, noting that the participants were men over the age of 25. Online community members responded to the disclosure by labeling the behavior as criminal and urging the original poster to distance herself from the group.
