On July 2, 2026, a 90-second AI-generated video was posted to Truth Social depicting President Trump as "Dr. Trump." The video, styled as a pharmaceutical commercial, claims to offer a cure for "Trump Derangement Syndrome" (TDS), a condition the President has previously described as a medical disease. The content features synthetic "patient testimonials" from high-profile critics of the President, including Robert De Niro, Whoopi Goldberg, Julia Roberts, Rosie O'Donnell, Edward Norton, and John Leguizamo, none of whom consented to participate or provided the recorded statements.

What happened

The video utilizes deepfake technology to simulate the likeness and voices of the six celebrities. In the clips, the fabricated versions of the stars describe symptoms of TDS, such as anger and insomnia, before the President appears to offer a "treatment plan" that includes turning off news media and drinking Diet Coke. The release of this video follows a period of heightened rhetoric regarding TDS; notably, after the murder of director Rob Reiner and his wife in December 2025, the President claimed on social media that Reiner’s death was caused by the "incurable affliction" of the syndrome. All featured celebrities have historically been vocal critics of the President, with some involved in decades-long public feuds. This incident marks another instance of the President sharing AI-generated content on social media, following a previous controversy involving manipulated imagery of Barack and Michelle Obama. As of the report date, representatives for the featured celebrities have not issued public comments regarding the unauthorized use of their likenesses.
