On July 2, 2026, a post from Kyle Rittenhouse's official X account featured an AI-generated image showing the rapper Lil Wayne sitting on a couch next to Rittenhouse. The post was captioned, "Enjoyed having Lil Wayne in the office yesterday!" and included a remark about the rapper’s expression in the synthetic image.

What happened

The image was created using AI tools from OpenAI and was part of a larger trend involving manipulated photos of Lil Wayne. This trend emerged following the rapper's unexpected absence from a scheduled concert in Bangor, Maine, on June 30, 2026. While Lil Wayne later apologized to fans via Instagram and announced a rescheduled date for the Bangor show, he did not provide a specific reason for missing the original performance. Instead, he was observed attending businessman Michael Rubin’s annual white party on July 1, 2026. The absence sparked a wave of social media activity, resulting in various AI-generated images depicting the rapper in diverse locations. The post from Rittenhouse’s account was a quote post responding to another user who had shared a different AI-generated image of Lil Wayne.
