Over the weekend, President Trump shared AI-generated images on Truth Social showcasing a "DronePort" he envisions atop a planned White House ballroom. The images are part of a broader effort to secure funding for the project.
What happened
Trump posted two AI-generated images. One depicted military drones arranged in a circle, surrounded by soldiers, with fireworks. The other showed a similar scene at sunset, with attack drones, fuel trucks, and troops. Both images were stamped with the White House seal. Trump's message accompanying the images stated the "DronePort" would safeguard Washington, D.C. The images and message came as the White House is pushing Congress to approve $1 billion in security funding for the East Wing project, including a roof designed to conceal a "counteroffensive drone port and rocket launchers," bulletproof glass and a hardened underground bunker. Trump also criticized U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, who ordered a halt to above-ground work on the ballroom without congressional authorization, warning he would be held responsible if Washington is attacked.
