Punjab Provincial Assembly member Hina Parvez Butt has issued a formal call for action against the rise of non-consensual artificial intelligence-generated content targeting women and public figures. As the head of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, Butt emphasized that such technologies are being weaponized to undermine the dignity, respect, and privacy of individuals.

The issue gained prominence following the circulation of AI-generated videos featuring prominent Pakistani public figures, including TikTok creator Jannat Mirza and actress Hania Aamir. In a public response, Mirza expressed severe discomfort after her image was used in an AI-generated video without her authorization. Mirza warned that while she maintains a public presence, the technology poses a broader threat to all women, noting that the photos of individuals who do not use social media at all are also susceptible to being harvested for non-consensual content.

Further reports highlight that deepfakes involving Pakistani and foreign actors have recently proliferated on platforms like Instagram. One specific instance involved an AI-generated video depicting the account owner’s image allegedly beating actress Hania Aamir, which served as a catalyst for increased calls for intervention.

In response to these developments, Hina Parvez Butt has declared that the Punjab Women Protection Authority is prepared to provide assistance to women whose likenesses have been misappropriated for AI content. She urged authorities to take the creation of misleading or unacceptable videos seriously, stating that there can be no compromises regarding the protection of women's dignity and rights.
