Court system, opposing party in lawsuit deepfake (Oct 2025)

A California judge threw out an $8.7 million lawsuit after discovering deepfake testimony. The video appeared convincing, but the judge noticed the lips moved out of sync with the voice, and the eyes never blinked. Nine pieces of fabricated evidence, including doctored photos and fake text messages, created using readily available AI tools, were also discovered. The plaintiff, representing himself, created the materials with consumer-grade AI tools.
