During the Delhi assembly elections in late 2024, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) used deepfakes from shows like Panchayat and Maharani. BJP depicted AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal negatively, while AAP retaliated with deepfakes promoting their schemes. A deepfake of Pankaj Tripathi criticizing BJP was also shared. Other incidents involved Ranveer Singh, Kanchan Nagar, and Rajat Sharma. Zomato also faced criticism for using generative AI to create videos featuring celebrities without permission.
