What happened

The article published by the AI-driven site relied on synthesized and distorted information to construct a narrative of decline. Central to the false claim was a quote attributed to Post Commander Dan Beck, allegedly from August 2016. In reality, the quote was spoken by then-Senior Vice President David Flynn on February 13, 2025, in a completely different context regarding a temporary kitchen closure. The AI outlet not only misattributed the quote to a different person and title but also altered the text by omitting portions and backdating the statement by nearly a decade.

Commander Lt. Col. Dave Flynn (Ret.) pushed back against the report, noting that the post has undergone a significant turnaround over the past 18 to 20 months. Far from declining, the post has added 31 new members in the last 13 months and is currently recognized as an All State and All National Post. The organization maintains a robust schedule of community activities, including charity donations, youth sports sponsorships, and veteran support services. According to local reporting, this incident is part of a broader pattern of AI-driven websites publishing misleading information about the region by repurposing old news reports and public data.
