Sheikh Hasina deepfake (Feb 2025)

A deepfake video of Sheikh Hasina discussing Bangladesh's detention centers for political prisoners circulated on social media, falsely claiming she discussed the construction and use of these centers. The video was initially shared on YouTube by the channel 'RTNews24 BD', which labeled it as containing altered or synthetic content. A reverse image search traced the original clip to a 2019 BBC Bangla interview, and a deepfake detection tool confirmed manipulation of both audio and video.
