Deepfakes are being used to impersonate well-known personalities and company executives to trick people into handing over money or personal information. Examples include fake celebrity endorsements of investment scams, impersonation of executives in video calls, and misinformation campaigns. A fake video of Raymond Ackerman promoting a money-doubling scheme linked to Pick n Pay appeared online. Scams using altered footage of Elon Musk and other public figures have also circulated.
