Sportsnet, a Canadian sports network, created a Mother's Day segment featuring hockey player Nick Suzuki, his wife, and their newborn child. The segment included multiple A.I.-generated images of the family, despite the fact that the couple had not publicly shared any pictures of their baby.

What happened

The network aired an interview with Nick Suzuki where he discussed his relationship with his mother and his wife, who had recently given birth. The segment featured images of the couple with their baby, as well as images seemingly taken during the pregnancy. Viewers soon realized the images were A.I.-generated and criticized the network. Sportsnet subsequently deleted the segment. The source of the A.I.-generated images is unknown. The couple had announced the pregnancy on Instagram but had otherwise maintained their privacy.
