A Sumsub survey of 2000 UK adults revealed that deepfakes and scams are prevalent on UK dating apps, affecting approximately one-fifth of users. One user, Jake Klair, lost £600 to a deepfake scammer posing as a US soldier on Tinder. The survey also revealed that an estimated £410 million has been lost to romance scams in the last five years.
