In June 2026, authorities arrested 66-year-old Harry Tiffany IV of New Britain, Pennsylvania, on felony charges related to the creation and distribution of AI-generated child pornography. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children forwarded seven CyberTips to Bucks County detectives, identifying illicit content generated through the social media platform X’s AI assistant, Grok.
What happened
Bucks County detectives launched an investigation in May 2026 following reports from X.AI LLC regarding suspicious activity on the Grok chatbot interface. Automated systems flagged 37 unique image files uploaded or shared by the account in April. According to an affidavit of probable cause, the files depicted computer-generated, prepubescent children in sexual poses. In at least one instance, a generated video featured a child directing speech to "Harry" regarding a sexual fantasy.
Following the reports, authorities executed a search warrant at Tiffany’s residence. Digital forensic analysis linked email and IP addresses associated with the flagged account directly to Tiffany’s personal electronic devices. During the search, investigators found the Grok app active and logged into the account containing the illicit files. When confronted by police, Tiffany stated that he believed he was simply utilizing a computer program as an "illustrator."
Tiffany was arraigned on June 9, 2026, before District Judge Regina Armitage on three felony charges, including sexual abuse of children. He was subsequently transferred to the Bucks County Correctional Center in lieu of $200,000 bail. This arrest coincides with an ongoing federal lawsuit initiated by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, which accuses major tech companies, including X Corp., of failing to implement adequate child safety precautions and allowing the generation of explicit material via experimental AI assistants.
