A five-second AI-generated video falsely depicted the USS Preble firing its HELIOS laser weapon. The video was created from a still image from the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) 2024 annual report and was not authentic footage. The video's creator admitted to generating it using AI. A Navy spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the still image but stated that the Navy had not released any videos of the HELIOS system's deployment.
