UK and Canada residents deepfake (Mar 2025)

A Georgian boiler room operation used deepfakes of celebrities (Ben Fogle, Martin Lewis, and Zoe Ball) to promote fraudulent cryptocurrency investments. Victims were contacted by call centers, initially seeing fake profits before being defrauded of approximately $35 million. A larger network operating from Israel also ran a similar scheme, resulting in an estimated $240 million in losses over three years.
