A former MSP was deceived by an AI-generated image related to a controversial penalty awarded to Celtic in a match against Motherwell. Tommy Sheridan, a former Member of the Scottish Parliament and a known Celtic supporter, shared the image on social media.
What happened
Sheridan posted the AI-generated image, purporting to show a clear foul during the Celtic vs. Motherwell game, in a message directed to Gary Lineker. The image depicted an incident involving Auston Trusty and Sam Nicholson. The AI-generated nature of the image was revealed by an error: Nicholson's sleeve displayed an old English Premier League logo instead of the Scottish Premiership emblem. Celtic ultimately won the match 3-2 after a successful penalty kick.
