A survey of 1,200 young people aged 13-20 reveals that 1 in 8 know someone targeted by AI-generated deepfake pornographic images or videos, and 1 in 17 have been targets themselves. 13% knew someone who used AI to create or redistribute deepfake pornography of minors. The ease of creation and distribution is a rising challenge for schools, with cases involving boys as young as 14 creating and sharing deepfakes of female classmates. Over 80% of respondents recognize the harm caused by deepfake nudes, citing emotional/psychological impact and reputational damage as primary concerns. The report highlights that 2% of young people surveyed created deepfakes, with 74% targeting women, and over 30% depicting minors.
