A deepfake video depicting philanthropist Susan Dell dancing was circulated on social media, falsely presented as authentic footage to support a conspiracy theory. While the video was originally created with explicit AI disclosures, it was later repurposed by accounts on X to claim the footage was real.

What happened

The video, which shows a woman resembling Susan Dell in a red dress, originated from the Instagram account @danielag.ai on October 16, 2026. The creator explicitly labeled the content as AI-generated, noting it was produced using CapCut and the Seedance 2.5 tool. A second Instagram account, @dimensionais_, also posted the video on October 23, 2026, with a caption explaining that the imagery was a fictional representation intended to visualize a conspiracy theory regarding Dell's supposed reptilian descent.

On October 28, 2026, the account @allchronology shared the video on X with the caption, "OMG, this isn't AI. something broke her!!!" This post stripped the context of the original AI disclaimers, attempting to pass the synthetic media off as genuine evidence.

Technical analysis confirmed the artificial nature of the footage. When tested against content detection platforms, Hive Moderation rated the video as 87.5% likely to be AI-generated. Similarly, Sightengine’s detection tool recorded a confidence level as high as 99% for AI generation. The Sightengine deepfake detector, which specifically identifies face swaps and manipulations, also registered a 96% probability of deepfake content at the moments the subject's face was clearly visible.
