Salome Zourabichvili deepfake (Feb 2025)

A six-second deepfake video depicting Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili kissing U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson was posted on Facebook and TikTok on February 18-19. The video, generated using artificial intelligence, is not real. The deepfake used a photo of a meeting between Wilson and Zourabichvili, posted by Wilson on X (formerly Twitter) on February 15, and an Interpressnews (IPN) information card from Facebook. The video's lower right corner showed the logos of MINIMAX, an AI chatbot, and Hailuo AI, an AI tool capable of generating visual and audio content. President Zourabichvili has been the target of multiple, often gender-biased, disinformation campaigns.
