In April 2026, authorities in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, arrested 41-year-old John Ohler Jr. on more than 600 criminal charges related to the creation of AI-generated sexual content and the possession of child pornography. The investigation, which began in October 2025, revealed a significant volume of illicit digital evidence linked to the suspect.

What happened

The investigation into Ohler began after his estranged wife reported that he had distributed a sexually explicit photo of her to an unknown individual. Upon initiating an investigation, Lower Providence Township police discovered a vast collection of digital storage devices, hidden cameras, and recording equipment. According to the criminal complaint, evidence recovered included multiple AI-generated sexual videos featuring numerous victims, including minors.

The charges filed against Ohler include over 200 counts of videotaping or depicting a child engaging in sexual acts and more than 200 counts of possession of child pornography. Beyond the AI-generated material, the complaint alleges that Ohler had been secretly recording individuals in various public locations. While Ohler's estranged wife confirmed the identities of approximately a dozen women appearing in the recovered videos, many other victims remain unidentified. Ohler was arrested in April 2026, posted bond, and is currently awaiting further court proceedings. His defense attorney has stated that Ohler disagrees with the allegations and intends to contest the evidence in court.
