A Facebook page called The Beanstalk Functions Group used AI to create fake news stories about William Shatner, including false claims that he has stage 4 brain cancer, was in a fight with Erika Kirk, and is dying. These stories were monetized and spread across social media. Facebook eventually removed the page after Shatner spoke out.
