A photo circulating on social media claimed to depict a massive crowd gathered at the Anti-Corruption Commission during former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's visit. However, the image was misleading.

What happened

The former President visited the Anti-Corruption Commission on May 12. Social media posts showed a photo purportedly showing a large crowd gathered at the Commission on that day. While reports and photos confirmed a crowd was present, the circulating image depicted a crowd size and location inconsistent with reality. An AI photo generation tool confirmed that the image was artificially generated, due to unnatural positioning of the crowd and differences in the location.
