What happened

RY, a student in the Biology Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), was participating in a practical lab for a Microbial Systematics course with classmates. A classmate borrowed RY's phone to document the lab work. While checking the photos, the classmate discovered numerous altered, indecent photos of people they knew saved on the device. The victims initially remained silent, while RY's friends gathered evidence, hoping the case would go viral. Days later, the case spread on social media and student chat groups, leading to broader awareness of the deepfake incident.
