On September 16, 2026, the Telegram channel Voyna s Feykami released an AI-generated video designed to caution the public against trusting online election-related footage. The video depicts a six-fingered Leonardo DiCaprio, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, and the creature from the film Alien placing ballots into a box, accompanied by a voice-over warning that such clips may be synthetic.

What happened

The video, which garnered over 100,000 views, serves as a public service announcement urging Russians to rely exclusively on official sources for election information. The Voyna s Feykami channel is operated by Dialog, an autonomous nonprofit organization established by Moscow authorities in 2019. Reports indicate that Dialog is overseen by Sergei Kiriyenko, the first deputy chief of staff of Russia’s Presidential Administration, and led by Vladimir Tabak.

Beyond its stated purpose of providing citizen feedback, Dialog has historically been tasked with promoting political advertising and managing state communications. Investigative reporting by Meduza, iStories, and The Bell suggests that the organization utilizes specific internal guidelines for debunking information, which include strategies to discredit sources when factual refutation is impossible. The channel has previously been linked to the dissemination of narratives regarding military strikes in Ukraine, characterizing attacks on civilian infrastructure as targeting foreign mercenaries or accidental explosions.
