On July 2, 2026, President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated video on his social media platform featuring synthetic testimonials from several high-profile Hollywood critics. The video, styled as a pharmaceutical advertisement, depicted the President as a doctor offering a treatment plan for a fictional condition he dubbed Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).

What happened

The video utilized AI-generated clips to simulate appearances and voices of Julia Roberts, Robert De Niro, Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, John Leguizamo, and Edward Norton. Each celebrity avatar provided a testimonial claiming to be suffering from TDS and reporting improvements after following the President’s suggested treatment plan. The synthetic avatars of Goldberg and O'Donnell claimed to see positive results, while the AI-generated De Niro described previous symptoms of anger and sleep deprivation. The fake Roberts avatar expressed concerns about aging and her future. The video concluded with the President recommending that viewers turn off news, pray, and drink Diet Coke to alleviate their anxiety. This incident follows a pattern of the President sharing AI-generated content on his social media, including a previously deleted video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. Representatives for the featured celebrities were contacted for comment regarding the unauthorized use of their likenesses in the AI-generated content.
