In October 2024, Jorja Smith's label, FAMM, challenged Harrison Walker (aka Haven) over his viral single, ‘I Run’, alleging the use of AI to replicate Smith's vocals. The label sought royalties, claiming listeners were misled into believing it was an unreleased Jorja Smith track.

What happened

The track, which went viral on TikTok, was removed from streaming services after takedown notices were issued by FAMM, the Recording Industry Association of America, and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, who claimed copyright infringement due to the impersonation of Smith. It's alleged that social media posts tagged #jorjasmith deliberately misled listeners. A video posted by Haven that appeared to show Migos’ Offset playing the track was also fake. Walker admitted to using Suno's generative AI to process his own vocals. FAMM claims Haven's team approached them to feature Smith on a remix to "legitimize" the track, without disclosing the AI use. FAMM believes AI material should be clearly labeled and is pursuing legal avenues to establish AI's contribution to the song's creation.
