Jodie deepfake (Mar 2025)

A young woman, known only as Jodie, was victimized by a deepfake video created by her friend, Alex Woolf, a BBC music prodigy. Woolf used Jodie's images to create a deepfake pornographic video and distributed it online. Jodie discovered the video and identified Woolf by recognizing an image not shared on social media. Woolf pleaded guilty to sending grossly offensive messages, and Jodie's case highlights the challenges in prosecuting such crimes and the lack of adequate legal protection and police response in the UK.
