French prosecutors are seeking charges against Elon Musk and others related to platform X after he snubbed a summons to testify regarding the dissemination of sexually explicit deepfakes. The probe is examining a range of allegations.
What happened
Paris prosecutors have called on investigating magistrates to charge Elon Musk, former X Corp. CEO Linda Yaccarino, and related companies, including xAI. The allegations include aiding and abetting the possession of child sexual abuse material, disseminating online non-consensual deepfakes of a sexual nature, and operating an online platform to facilitate illicit transactions as part of an organized crime group. The prosecutors had requested Musk's voluntary testimony in Paris, but he refused to appear. X's Paris offices were searched in February as part of the probe.
