Manchester-based artist IAMDDB has publicly condemned the unauthorized use of her likeness in an AI-generated propaganda video shared by official Israeli social media accounts. The artist stated she never consented to the clip, which promoted the government's narrative regarding indigeneity.

What happened

On October 15, 2024, official Israeli social media accounts posted a video featuring an AI-generated woman who closely resembled IAMDDB. In the footage, the digital avatar recited lines defending Jewish indigeneity, specifically stating: "Colonisers? Say the name. Jews from Judea, it's in the damn name." The video was accompanied by the caption: "'GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!' We did."

Following the release of the video, IAMDDB issued a statement on Instagram expressing deep concern regarding the use of AI technology to simulate an artist's involvement in political messaging without their agreement. She emphasized her stance against the suffering of innocent people and asserted the right of every artist to control the associations made with their name, face, and work. The video has since been deleted, and the artist is currently seeking professional advice on how to protect her image, work, and legal rights.
