Angolan-Portuguese singer and rapper IAMDDB has publicly accused the official Israeli government social media account of misappropriating her identity in an AI-generated propaganda video. The musician, whose legal name is Diana Adelaide Rocha De Brito, stated that she did not authorize or consent to the use of her image in the now-deleted clip.

What happened

The incident involved an AI-generated video shared across official Israeli social media profiles featuring a woman who bore a striking resemblance to the Manchester-based artist. The video depicted the figure reciting lyrics regarding Israeli indigeneity. Activist Rafael Shimunov identified that the AI-generated character was wearing a near-identical outfit to one worn by IAMDDB in a 2018 press photograph taken for a Crack profile. According to reports, the video was created by Eyal Be, an Israeli-born, New Jersey-based video director, and was captioned with the phrase: "GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM! We did."

Upon discovering the video, IAMDDB issued an official statement clarifying that she had no involvement in the creation or messaging of the content. She emphasized that she did not support the views expressed in the video and noted that her past performances in Israel should not be interpreted as an endorsement of any government actions. The artist expressed deep concern regarding the unauthorized use of her likeness, stating that she is exploring legal steps to protect her image, work, and rights. She concluded her statement by affirming her commitment to humanity and the right of every artist to control the associations of their name and face.
