In January 2025, Keith Havener of Sioux City was arrested after authorities discovered AI-generated child pornography on his devices. The investigation also revealed he used AI to create explicit images of his female coworkers.

What happened

Authorities received a tip about a fake dating profile featuring a 14-year-old. The profile offered "housecleaning and prostitution," but the girl denied creating it. Investigators determined Havener was responsible. A search of Havener's home revealed 1,025 AI-generated images of child pornography. A parallel investigation by the Sioux City Police Department found that Havener had used AI to create explicit images of his female coworkers and distributed them at work. His employer turned over his work computer, which contained additional images of child pornography and the coworkers.
