What happened
In April 2026, the FBI received consent to search the residence of Adan Covarrubias in Carrizo Springs as part of an investigation. Law enforcement identified over 900 AI-generated images and videos depicting both prepubescent and pubescent children. Further investigation revealed that Covarrubias allegedly took photos from open-source pages affiliated with South Texas schools and manipulated them through AI tools. About 30 child victims have been identified so far. Covarrubias was arrested on May 19, 2026, and charged with possession of computer-generated child pornography.
