San Francisco's city attorney filed a lawsuit against website owners operating sites using AI-generated non-consensual explicit images of adults and minors. Ten of sixteen websites were shut down for violating state and federal laws. One defendant, Briver, settled with a permanent injunction and a $100,000 penalty. The websites attracted 200 million visitors in the first 6 months of 2024.
