US Federal and State Government Personnel deepfake (May 2025)

Hackers are using AI voice clips and text messages to impersonate senior US officials. The goal is to breach personal accounts of government personnel by building trust and redirecting them to external platforms to harvest login credentials. Stolen data is used to access other government officials or their contacts to elicit sensitive information or financial resources.
