A survey of US schools showed that 15% of students and 11% of teachers heard about deepfake non-consensual intimate images (NCII) of individuals associated with their school during the 2023-2024 school year. Incidents have been reported across the US. Students created fake nude images using 'nudify' apps or websites and spread them widely; in some cases targeting dozens of victims at once, generating deepfake images of up to 46 teen girls. The true scope is likely far greater than reported.
