What happened
The woman received a call from an unknown individual who claimed to have kidnapped her daughter. The caller put someone on the phone who sounded like her daughter, sobbing and saying she was scared. The caller then demanded that the woman wire money to multiple locations in Mexico. The woman wired the money, but later learned that her daughter was safe and had not been kidnapped. She then realized she had been scammed. Authorities are investigating the incident.
