Reddit r/changemyview users deepfake (Apr 2025)

Researchers from the University of Zurich used AI to generate over 1,700 comments on the r/changemyview subreddit to test the persuasiveness of LLMs. The AI created comments under various identities, including a victim of sexual assault, a psychologist, and a black person with controversial views. The researchers used information gleaned from users' post history to personalize the AI's replies. Reddit banned all accounts associated with the research and contacted the University of Zurich.
