Deepfake-driven fraud led to $200 million in financial losses in Q1 2025. Public figure impersonations account for 47% of deepfakes, with politicians being the most impersonated (33%) followed by TV/film actors (26%). The use of deepfakes to impersonate public figures has led to at least $350 million losses. Deepfake use has expanded to involve reputational damage, targeted harassment and blackmail.
