In August 2026, a 15-second video circulating on social media purported to show a group of men performing namaz on a London metro train. The footage, which included audio of passengers complaining about the situation, was used to support claims that Muslims had taken over a transit compartment.

What happened

The viral clip was identified as a fabrication rather than authentic footage from the London Metro. Investigations into the video revealed several visual inconsistencies, including uniform lighting, physical distortions of the individuals depicted, and inconsistently colored pillars.

To verify the content, researchers utilized Hive Moderation’s AI-detection tools, which assigned the video a 99 percent probability of being AI-generated. A more detailed follow-up report from Hive indicated a 99.8 percent confidence level that the content was created using Sora 2. The analysis confirmed that the video was entirely AI-generated, refuting the false narrative that the events depicted actually occurred on the London transit system.
