AI voice scams are becoming more common, and one Pikesville family recently experienced this firsthand. Michael Bresler shared his family's story to warn others about the risks.

What happened

Bresler's father received a call from someone impersonating Bresler's brother. The AI-generated voice claimed to be in the hospital and in police custody for a DUI, urgently requesting money. The scammer even used the term "ABBA," which is how they refer to their father. Fortunately, Bresler was able to contact his brother and confirm that it was a scam before any money was sent. Bresler advises others to have a safe word with family members to verify their identity if they receive a suspicious call.
