Laurens ten Dam deepfake video — Oct 2026

A viral video featuring Dutch national cycling coach Laurens ten Dam dancing on a DJ table has captured significant online attention following the European Cycling Championships in Slovenia. While the footage has been widely shared and enjoyed by fans, its authenticity has been questioned due to the smooth nature of the imagery.

What happened

The video depicts Laurens ten Dam dancing on a DJ table while cyclist Puck Pieterse operates the controls, accompanied by Demi Vollering. The footage emerged following team celebrations that included dinner, a casino visit, and ice cream. However, in his podcast, Live Slow Ride Fast, ten Dam did not mention any such dance party occurring during the festivities. Given the discrepancy between his account and the viral footage, observers have concluded that the video is likely the product of artificial intelligence. Despite the likely synthetic nature of the clip, it has generated a positive response from the public, with social media users leaving numerous humorous comments praising the coach's supposed moves. Both ten Dam and Vollering have engaged with the viral content on social media, with ten Dam jokingly claiming he had been practicing his moves for the offseason.
