Lara Trump deepfake video — Oct 2026

White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino shared an AI-generated video that depicted Lara Trump, her husband Eric Trump, Dan Scavino, and his wife Erin Scavino. The clip showed the group spraying Champagne while riding on a luggage cart, purportedly following a White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping.

What happened

The AI-generated video became a point of contention during an interview between Lara Trump and host Harry Cole on the podcast Harry Cole Saves The West. During the discussion, Cole challenged Lara Trump regarding the optics of the clip, suggesting it created a disconnect between the administration and the daily economic struggles faced by American voters. Cole noted that the video contributed to a wider narrative that rules do not apply to the Trump family. In response, Lara Trump defended the content, characterizing the video as a tongue-in-cheek and fun depiction. She dismissed criticism of the clip, suggesting that those upset by the imagery were being too stiff and needed to have more fun. The incident highlighted ongoing debates regarding the use of synthetic media by government officials and the potential impact of such content on public perception ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
