North Korean hackers used AI deepfakes of a company founder's likeness and voice to trick Jason Saayman, lead developer of Axios, into installing a remote access Trojan during a virtual meeting. This gave the hackers access to Saayman's PC and NPM account, allowing them to briefly circulate a malicious version of Axios, which could install malware on users' PCs.
