A Hong Kong deepfake scam group used deepfakes to impersonate wealthy, single women to defraud victims in Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Recruits were trained to discuss topics such as expensive red wine and golf, and to learn about victims' finances and cryptocurrency investments to build trust. Over HK$34 million in scam proceeds were intercepted by police.
