On June 29, 2026, former President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated image on his Truth Social platform that inaccurately characterized the outcomes of past presidential elections. The image depicted three of his former Democratic rivals—Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris—wearing red MAGA-style hats that read, "I Lost to Trump."

What happened

The image utilized AI technology to synthesize the likenesses of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris wearing campaign-themed apparel. While the slogan on the hats was factually accurate regarding the 2016 and 2024 election outcomes for Clinton and Harris, it was demonstrably false regarding Joe Biden. In the 2020 presidential election, Biden defeated Trump, securing more than 81.2 million votes compared to Trump's 74.2 million, in addition to winning the Electoral College. Despite these verified results and years of refutations from courts, election officials, and members of his own administration, Trump continues to promote the narrative that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
