A video circulating on social media falsely claimed to show a leaked argument between FlyDubai pilots, but investigations confirmed the footage was a sophisticated AI-generated fabrication. The clip, which appeared on X in October 2026, attempted to capitalize on recent real-world events involving the airline.

What happened

The fabricated video was posted by the account @WireSpy92 on October 1, 2026, under the caption "Leaked Video from FlightDubai." To verify the authenticity of the footage, an AI detection tool—Hive Moderation—was utilized, which concluded that the video was 95.8% likely to be AI-generated.

Further analysis revealed that while the audio in the video was authentic, it was entirely unrelated to the airline industry. The audio track was lifted from a viral 2017 road-rage incident. Lead Stories conducted searches across major news outlets, including Google News and Yahoo News, and found no reports or evidence to support the claim that such a cockpit argument occurred.

The misinformation appeared shortly after a genuine emergency incident on September 30, 2026, involving a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. In that separate, verified event, a co-pilot reportedly stabbed the captain, leading to an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. The fabricated video appears to have been an attempt to exploit the public interest surrounding that real-world emergency by pairing AI-generated visuals with unrelated, aggressive audio to create a false narrative.
