A deepfake advertisement featuring Australian media personality Eddie McGuire promoting a fraudulent investment opportunity appeared on YouTube. The ad used footage from a legitimate television appearance, manipulated with a voiceover impersonating McGuire. Inconsistencies in lip syncing and a wavering accent gave the deepfake away. YouTube removed the video for violating its policy against scams using false endorsements. Other celebrities have also been targeted by similar scams.
