Dutch people deepfake (Mar 2026)

X and Grok were ordered by a Dutch court to stop generating non-consensual sexualized imagery and child pornographic material of persons residing in the Netherlands. The court found that Grok's image editing feature allowed users to create deepfake nude images without consent. The company simultaneously argued that generating such material was now impossible and that a 100% guarantee was technically unachievable. The case was brought following a report estimating that Grok generated approximately 3 million sexualized images between December 29, 2025, and January 8, 2026, including an estimated 23,000 appearing to depict children.
