A Reddit user on r/Odd_directions reported a disturbing experience involving a lifelike deepfake. The user, donavin221, detailed finding a livestream on TikTok that appeared to be of their own room and, eventually, a figure resembling them.
What happened
The user was doomscrolling on TikTok when the app crashed and upon reopening, they were met with a livestream titled "Watching him until he does it." The stream depicted a dark room that the user recognized as their own, complete with specific details like blackout curtains, a nightstand, a computer desk, stickers on the laptop, and empty soda cans. The figure in the stream eventually emerged, resembling the user and smiling at the camera with "dark eyes and unnaturally white teeth." Disturbingly, the chat filled with messages from family members urging the figure to commit suicide, though the user was supposedly the only viewer.
